▶ NEW IN THE STOCKROOM: PETER TILLEY 'LAYER UPON LAYER'

The 2002 assemblage follows in Peter Tilley's tradition of using found items, in particular objects of nature. The repetitive arrangement features criss-crossing bones in four layers, spaced with small pieces of lead.

The bone was sourced from the sand dunes north of Newcastle, near his studio. After sorting the bones by their various anatomical parts, Tilley arranged them in geometric patterns within heavy display boxes.
