▶ PETER TILLEY + JANET PARKER-SMITH, OPENING 3 SEPTEMBER

New work by PETER TILLEY and JANET PARKER-SMITH will be on view starting Tuesday 30 August. Please join the Artists for a drink in the Gallery to celebrate the launch of their solo exhibitions on Saturday 3 September from 4-6pm.

Peter Tilley, 'A Calm Sea' 2011, bronze, timber, 37 x 55 x 13cm

The new body of work by Peter Tilley shifts between still life tableau and compositions based around the figure. The sculptures reflect on issues of the times and the nature of society, whilst a recurring meditation on life's opposing forces of hope/despair, real/wishful, life/death and permanence/decay continues to influence this body of work.

Janet Parker-Smith, 'Delicate Souls' 2010, deconstructed book, digital print, wire, 53 x 58 x 21cm

The deconstructed books and whimsical assemblages by Janet Parker-Smith introduce images, objects, creatures and species that hover between multiple identities. Dealing with feelings of displacement, the work examines the binary nature of insiders and outsiders, inclusion and exclusion and isolation and connection.
