Congratulations to Lezlie Tilley whose work, '2,242 Tiny pebbles arranged according to the laws of chance' was purchased by the Newcastle Region Art Gallery for their collection. The three new additions in the Gallery stockroom by Tilley also hail from the same body of work. Randomly selecting tiny, found shells, coral and pebbles and working from left to right, she adheres them to the center of each small square in the hand drawn, gridded paper. This methodical process is central to the work and according to Tilley, the series represents an order she is able to impose on the natural world.
