▶ NOW ACCEPTING PROPOSALS FOR 2012 GROUP EXHIBITIONS

Brenda May Gallery is seeking proposals from professional practising artists for the following group exhibitions scheduled for 2012.

'Sculpture 2012' - January/February 2012

This show continues the tradition of opening our year with an exhibition devoted to the best and most interesting contemporary sculpture. Although there are no restrictions for this exhibition, we will only consider work made by professional sculptors which has not previously been exhibited in Sydney.
Proposals for this show must be received by Friday 21 October 2011.

'In the Mirror' - April/May 2012

No one sees themselves as the world sees them as ones reflection is, of course, seen in reverse. This show is an opportunity for the artist to share their unique view of themselves and to redirect the focus from the celebrity of the sitter, back to that of the artist. Not limited by traditional representation, unfettered by medium, 'In the Mirror' will endeavour to offer something different from the portrait as defined by and typically exhibited at the Archibald Prize.
Proposals for this show must be received by Friday 27 January 2012.

'Art + Food - Beyond the Still Life' curated by Megan Fizell - October 2012

This exhibition will consider the representation of food within the visual arts and beyond the standard still life tableaux. The consumption of food is a universally shared experience, enabling viewers to connect with the issues surrounding consumerism, food production and cultural identity, explored by the artists. 'Art + Food - Beyond the Still Life' will be on view during the Sydney International Food Festival.
Proposals for this show must be received by Friday 27 July 2012.

Submissions should be posted directly to the Gallery (email submissions will not be accepted) and should include a CD of recent work, an up to date C/V and a one page written proposal outlining which exhibition you are submitting for and the nature of the work you are proposing.

Please note, the proposal deadline for 'Body Language' is still open.

'Body Language' - September/October 2011

A show that explores how our bodies silently communicate through gestures, posture, expression, style and adornment to the world around us. A theme open to interpretation, this show is not limited in scale or medium.
Proposals for this show must be received by Friday 22 July, 2011.
